FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.- As the Arizona Cardinals are in Flagstaff preparing for the upcoming season, they are also dealing with a common enemy at camp: injuries.
While nothing too serious has occurred yet, the injury bug is making its way around the Cardinals roster.
Beanie Wells of course sprained his right ankle in his very first training camp practice with the Cardinals. The injury does not appear serious to either Wells or Coach Ken Whisenhunt, but Wells will remain sidelined for now.
Early Doucet sprained his left shoulder making a spectacular diving catch on a pass by Matt Leinart. Doucet landed hard after making the catch, hurting his shoulder. Whisenhunt said Doucet will undergo an MRI to see how serious the injury is.
"He sprained his shoulder, we don't know to the degree of which it's going to affect him," said Whisenhunt. "We're working on that right now. He made a nice play on the ball, it's too bad. It's one of the things that happens."
Bryant McFadden has a slight ankle sprain. He hurt the ankle making a play, resulting in an interception, against Larry Fitzgerald. Whisenhunt thinks McFadden will return to practice soon.
"He has an ankle sprain, did that [Sunday] on the play with Larry. He kind of came down on it funny," said Whisenhunt. "I think he's much improved [Monday], I don't see it being much longer for him."
Kurt Warner is still in pain from offseason surgery. Warner anticipates the pain to last for a while, but will not let it force him to the sidelines.
A few other players have sat out practices for other various reasons, including:
Chike Okeafor - back
Dan Kreider - hamstring
Justin Green - knee (Green was sent back to the Valley for further testing on his knee as there is a fear he may have ligament damage.)
Steve Breaston - back, has returned to practice.
Gabe Watson - sore knee
Stephen Spach - knee
