GLENDALE, Ariz. - The city of Glendale has released a statement in response to the Phoenix Coyotes filing for bankruptcy.

In the statement they said the decision of the Coyotes to initiate bankruptcy without consultation or approval of the NHL is an unfortunate event for the NHL, Arizona and the Coyotes' loyal fans.

They also said as this unprecedented action is being thoroughly investigated by the NHL and that city officials are working to ensure that the public's interest is fully protected.

The city appreciates the decision by the NHL to assume control of the Coyotes.

It is their hope that the actions by the NHL will provide immediate stability to the franchise and allow the Coyotes to remain an important part of the Arizona Community.

I agree with my2cents comments. Why would you worry about the casino when your gonna lose 750 million and more if the Coyotes move. This is not about looking out for the publics interests , its about your interests and as always with goverment , it's all about the MONEY......let them move to Canada and allow the casino to be built...you will create hundreds of jobs and have it legally written somehow that the city is to receive certain monies from the casino.....

Here's a question. With all the lost revenue from the Coyotes leaving, and money still owed on the arena.....how happy are you now that you turned down the casino? Idiots.

The team will be missed if it leaves. I truly hope that the NHL will not allow the team to be moved. The young talent on this team is outstanding and they will be even better as they gain more experience. I would hate to be watching the Hamilton Huskies or the Ontario Blackberries (or whatever they are planning on calling the team) make the playoffs next season.
