2-6 Edition of the Jon Bloom Show
The Beat…Jon Bloom takes a look back at the biggest sports stories in the valley from the past week:
Arizona State Men's Basketball looked for the sweep in Washington, Sun Devils Football got a new crew of freshman, the Suns finished off a 4-0 road trip, and the Cardinals are still dealing with the effects of Kurt Warner's retirement.
NFL
There is no one to hate in this year's Super Bowl. You can't root against the city of New Orleans, and Peyton Manning is so good he is impossible not to like. In wrestling when there is no "heel" its not as much fun because there is no one to boo, has the lack of a "heel" in this SB taken away from the game?
Bloom gave his thoughts on the Super Bowl. He believes the Saints will upset the Colts.
In this week's Football Five Pack we took a look at some interesting prop bets for Sunday's game.
Phoenix Suns
The Suns have won 5 straight, 10 games over .500, and climbing up the ladder in the Western Conference playoff race. Bloom thinks the recent quality team play and the individual performance from Amar'e Stoudemire the past two weeks could change the Suns front office approach to the upcoming trading deadline.
NBA
Friday night the Denver Nuggets took down the Los Angeles Lakers 126-113 in LA without Carmelo Anthony. The Lakers have lost two of their last three and haven't been as impressive as they were earlier in the season. Bloom, Rod, and Gibberman discussed the top of the Western Conference and if anyone can compete with Los Angeles in the playoffs.
Arizona Cardinals
In the middle of all the Super Bowl hype Dolphins outside linebacker Joey Porter said he would be interested in playing for the Arizona Cardinals. The Cards who might lose Chike Okeafor and have lost Bertrand Berry are in need of a veteran pass rusher to step in right away till they believe their youngsters are ready to go. Bloom discussed whether Porter is a viable option for the Redbirds.
