CLICK CHICK'S DAILY PICKS*
I'm Gayle Bass, the Click Chick, and this is my daily blog of what's weird, wacky and wild on the good old world wide Web. Is there a Web site you can't live without visiting everyday? Is there a video on YouTube that cracks you up every time? Email it to me at gbass@ktar.com. And you can check on me at twitter.com/theclickchick .Tuesday, November 17
Before You Give: If you're thinking of giving to a charitable cause this holiday season (and I know you are because, you dear readers, are a generous sort), check out Give.org. It's part the BBB's Wise Giving Alliance. It's checks out major charities, lists reports and standards and has a listing of charity complaints and reviews. Their goal is to help "donors make informed giving decisions and advances high standards of conduct among organizations that solicit contributions from the public."
The Birds & The Bees, According to Ms. Teen SC: And remember this Caitlan Upton? Sure you do. She's the former Ms. Teen South Carolina who famously answered a question about geography with "The Iraq, and such as..." Well, she had a sense of humor about it and the teen has done TV segments making fun of herself. So, she did a segment Jimmy Kimmel Live on to learn where babies come from. You'll never guess who she asked. Yes, the Octumom, who went to explain how IVF works by using milk, eggs and an oven (This is from a late night TV show, so it's TV 14.). Watch the video...
Webby Award-Winning Blog: So, what won the Webby Award for best culture/personal blog? No, the Click Chick is still the Susan Lucci of bloggers. I've been passed over again (except, Susan Lucci finally one one a few years ago)... Anyhow, according to the Webby folks, it's Post Secret where people are encouraged to put their secrets on a postcard and send them in. All I have to say is, some people have some serious secrets that may land them in divorce court, some are quite sad and some are heart-warming. This is not for the tame. You've been warned.
It's Bacon-Flavored Spread: The Click Chick got her first Chanukah gift of the season. It's Baconnaise - bacon flavored spread. And I know what you're saying. Bacon never has been and never will be kosher. Well, this version of bacon is approved by the Orthodox Union, which clearly doesn't mind that it's has 9 grams of fat per tablespoon. I have thank my friend Ken for that present. That means I now have to get him 8 presents which will consist of a Krispy Kreme donut everyday. I'm so glad I looked up the link online, did you know that Thursday, November 19 is The J&D's Bacathon? It's from 9 to midnight, but I don't know where. Bacathletes will compete for a good cause. If it was in PHX, I would be there.
Hamster Hotel: Time to practice your French. If you've ever had the secret desire to be a hamster, there is a hotel in France that will let you live out that fantasy. It has one of those automatic water feeders if you need a drink of water (it's human-sized of course), they will give you a hamster hat to wear. And of course, there's a giant human-sized treadmill for you to run around on. And on the menu, grains. Of course, you get to sleep on hay. You know, I think I'll stick with the Ritz.
