Ash's Random Thoughts

* I guess the bye week couldn't have come at a better time for the Arizona Cardinals. This team just isn't right and I can't really figure out exactly what it is. I think I have an idea though. For starters, Ken Whisenhunt's play calling hasn't been good enough in the first three games. I knew Todd Haley leaving for KC would hurt but didn't realize it would hurt this bad. If I were Whiz, I would be doing some serious tape time this week. Watch the playoff games again and use some of that stuff. Where are the trick plays? Where are the go to plays that you knew always worked? It sometimes seems like the Cardinals are almost suprised when a play actually works or like it was a busted play that somehow went in their favor.
* Does DRC stand for "Doesn't Really Cover"? Wow this kid has been awful this year. I think he goes for the picks too much and doesn't just play sound defense. I don't want to hear the term shut down corner anymore for him until he improves or at least stops getting toasted 2-3 times a game!
* Even though it was a loss for my team Sunday night, I will say it was a pleasure to be able to say I saw Peyton Manning do his thing. That guy is amazing and one day I will be able to tell my grandkids I saw him play in person. He will go down as the best ever in my opinion.
* My power rankings (Top 10) for the first three weeks look like this:
1) NY Giants - This team looks great and they haven't even really got Brandon Jacobs going yet.
2) New Orleans - This team is like the Vikings when they had Moss and Carter. Fun to watch!
3) Baltimore - Defense really buckles down in the red zone. Flacco looks good in year two.
4) NY Jets - OK, I have been so wrong on this team all year. Now I admit it they are good, which means they lose sunday!
5) Indy - Manning needed 15 minutes to beat the Dolphins and looked unreal against the Cards.
6) Minnesota - Favre paid dividends in Week 3 because Tavaris Jackson can't make that throw!
7) S.F. - Singletary has this defense playing great and they should be 3-0 if it weren't for Mr. Favre.
8) Philly - Once McNabb comes back this team will roll. They are a very banged up 2-1 team.
9) Denver - The donkeys are the worst 3-0 team in the history of football, but they have to make my top ten. Losses are coming for them the next few weeks.
10) Cincinnati - I am impressed with their win over Pittsburgh and seriously they got beat by a miracle play against Denver, they should be 3-0!
* ASU football better win their next 3 games against Oregon State, Washington State and Washington. If they don't this team is in for a long year. Their last 6 games are brutal! I like the way they showed up (at least defensivley) against Georgia. Sullivan still isn't the answer at QB.
* I hate the Coyotes idea for a White Out for the home opener! White Out is a playoff tradition, keep it that way!
