Gaydos: ObamaCare is careless

President Barack Obama continues to rush forward to pass a massive overhaul of the nation's health care system. I am willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt on his economic stimulus plan because it's too early to tell if it's a success or a failure. But I hate the health care plan. Here are a few reasons why:

  • The people in Congress who voted on the bill never read it!
  • Obama admitted he doesn't even know certain provisions in the bill!

  • There will be an enormous tax on people who've been successful in this country.
  • There won't be any wealthy people left in this society.
  • Money will move overseas.
  • Some people don't like the millionaire's tax "because they are looking someday to get there themselves."

  • If you are a small business and your total employee compensation including your own is $250 or more, and you don't provide health insurance, the government will take 8% of what you earn.
  • In this recession, the government is adding to the tax burden of people who employ other people which means this bill will cause job loss.

  • A family of four making $450,000 a year would pay $103,600 in federal income taxes.
  • A family of four making $5 million a year would pay $1.81 million in federal income taxes.

Also, Obama broke a campaign promise. He said no family will pay higher tax rates than they would have paid in the 1990s. Well, under the health care bill, three new tax brackets would be created for high earners, with a top rate of 45 percent for families making more than $1 million. That would be the highest income-tax rate since 1986, when the top rate was 50 percent.

Bad bill folks - all we can hope for is that the government actually gets one right and tosses the bill in the trash… but don't bet your health on it.

    That's How I Roll.

Though I believe Obama is nothing but a con-man, there are a bunch of con-man constituants on Capital Hill that need to be addressed. The health care bill, if passed, will drag our economy down lower than it already is. Yesterday, the president, addressed the AARP, telling them that they can keep whatever healthcare plan they want. What he didn't tell them is that with the proposed govt healthcare, their current plan won't be able to stay in business, nor would the be able to afford it, as their premiums will sky rocket. Bad, Bad bill Folks!

not an entitlement. I didn't ask the government for a health care plan. I don't want their help. And I don't want to pay for the illegals health care plan. The government is out of touch with what WE want. It's all about what THEY want - Control.

I think you need to clarify the tax comments a little, you say: A family of four making $450,000 a year would pay $103,600 in federal income taxes. A family of four making $5 million a year would pay $1.81 million in federal income taxes. But you don't say what they pay now. 103,600 on 450,000 is 23%, the top tax bracket now is 35%, going up to 39.6% after 2010 without any changes. The real question isn't what they are going to pay, but how much "more" are they going to pay. Has anyone read the plan, do we really know this?

Do more homework. What about that 2-income family WITH 2 health insurances(1 is a teacher) with $5000 deductibles? They don't qualify for AHCCCS but her 12 yr old dtr, hit by a car, needs an MRI...must come up with $2400 BEFORE she can have the MRI....our current system doesn't work for anyone BUT the wealthiest of persons.
