An Avondale woman and her 3-year-old daughter were found safe in north Phoenix Monday night, four days after they vanished.

Liliana Beatrice Iboa, 20, stopped a passerby and asked help contacting police, authorities said. Karen Bianay Cervantes, 3, was with Iboa, who said their kidnappers had released them.

Other details of what happened to the two have not been released.

Iboa's husband,Benito Cervantes Mena, reported the two missing last Friday night. He told police he was out town and was unable to reach his wife on the night of Nov. 6. He said he received a call on the morning of Nov. 7 from an unknown subject who said he had the woman and child and demanded money for their return.

When Mena arrived home, he discovered that his home, in the 12900 block of W. Alvarado, had been broken into and that his wife and daughter were missing.

Mena told police he waited several hours before reporting the incident because the caller had threatened to harm his family.

Police said Tuesday that they are still investigating and ask anyone with information about the case to call Avondale Police, 623-333-7001 or the Silent Witness Hotline at 480-948-6377.
