A Valley bakery is taking advantage of the election mania by selling McCain and Obama cookies.

And, if cookie sales were votes, "the Obama campaign would win by a landslide," said Sia Trujillo, manager of Tammie Coe Cakes in downtown Phoenix.

Sales are running about 10-to-1 for Obama over Republican John McCain, but both are popular, Trujillo said.

"The main bakery's making them, and they're having a hard time keeping up. They're making as many as they can. We're selling anywhere from 40 to 50 a day."

The vanilla sugar cookies are stamped with the Obama logo and the McCain-Palin said.

Who's eating more of which one?

"It's across the board," said Trujillo. "We're getting young high school kids coming in for both cookies. We're getting mid 30s coming in for both cookies. Every age group, all of them have an opinion."

Trujillo suspects the popularity of Obama cookies might be related to his headquarters, across the street from the shop.

The Obama cookies were introduced when the headquarters moved in two weeks ago. The McCain cookies were added shortly thereafter.

The cookies prove to be a conversation piece for customers, Trujillo said, adding they start some debates.

Sales are growing as the vice presidential debate between Republican Sarah Palin and Democrat Joe Biden, according to Trujillo.

"With the debate coming up on Thursday again, we're definitely getting orders from both political parties for cookies."
