Criminals beware. The Suns' Shaquille O'Neal is headed to Tempe to help clean up crime.

Shaq will serve as a volunteer with Tempe Police.

Sgt. Cindy Davies says officers are excited to have him.

``It's just so great to see somebody like Shaq coming to volunteer and help out with the community," Davies said. ``He's such a leader and we hope others follow in his footsteps."

Davies said police don't know yet when Shaq will start or exactly what he will do.

The Police Department, at least, will not have to special order a uniform for Shaq's 7-foot-1, 325-pound frame. Tempe police volunteers normally wear polo shirts.

Shaq volunteered with the Miami Police when he played for the Miami Heat and also is a volunteer with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
