Bedbugs Make a Comeback

Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite. We've all heard the nursery rhyme, but bedbugs really are something we should be aware of.

Arizona State epidemiologist Michael Fink says they really exist.

"Bedbug is just a small flat little insect that loves to feed off of people," Fink said.

They hide somewhere near your bed by day, and come out to bite you while you sleep at night. Don't worry, they're harmless. Here's one way you'll tell they're in the house.

"You can tell if they're around because you'll begin to discern a musty odor," Fink said.

And, you'll see things.

"You'll see not only blood residue from their excretions as little red or very light brown patches, but you'll smell that musty odor," Fink said.

They usually hitch a ride in your clothes or luggage when you're out of town.

Fink said to wash your clothes and vacuum luggage before you take it in your bedroom.
