PHOENIX -- U.S. District Court Judge Susan Bolton has received threats since her ruling that blocked parts of Arizona's immigration law, according to U.S. Marshal David Gonzales.
Gonzales said Bolton has received thousands of phone calls and e-mails since she issued a preliminary injunction Wednesday that stopped the most controversial provisions of Senate Bill 1070 from taking effect on Thursday.
Most of the messages sent to Bolton were positive, but some of the negative were "from people venting and who have expressed their displeasure in a perverted way," Gonzales said.
He said his agents are taking some of the threats to Bolton seriously. He would not provide details of any threats, including whether they came from recognized hate groups.
