PHOENIX - Authorities say three people have been taken to Phoenix-area hospitals after a van collided with a light rail train.

A Phoenix Fire Department spokesman says two people inside the van were taken to St. Luke's hospital and a third to Good Samaritan Hospital.

Authorities say the victims' injuries appear to be non life-threatening although the van wound up wrapped around a light pole.

The accident occurred about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at 18th and Washington Streets in Phoenix.

Metro spokeswoman Hillary Foose says it's about the 50th such incident involving a light rail train so far.

She says most of the accidents have been fender-benders and the drivers of the other vehicles were cited.
