Peoria hosting community campout

PHOENIX - It's a chance for you to take the kids camping this weekend and you don't even have to leave town.

It's the Peoria Community Campout at the Peoria Sports Complex.

Gates open Saturday at 4 p.m. And for $25 a person, there's overnight camping, dinner, games, jumpers, laser tag, dinner, stargazing and even a movie under the stars.

"At 7:30, the movie will begin and we are playing "Monsters vs. Aliens." After the movie, we'll have astronomers do a guided star-mapping," says Melissa Melton with the city of Peoria.

Games also include "bead-making to coloring to hula hoops, a game van. . . We'll have inflatables."

They'll also have astronomers and telescopes. You will just need to bring your own camping gear.
