PEORIA, Ariz. -- A Valley family is devastated after a burglary at their Peoria home -- but not because of televisions, laptops or other things stolen.

"My son's ashes were taken," said Lindsay Grannis, pleading for the thieves to return those.

Tyler Ross was five months old when he died nearly 13 years ago. His ashes were in a wooden music box, taken by the thieves.

"It holds no value to them obviously, but is very valuable to our family," said Grannis.

The family is offering a reward and said, if the ashes are returned to any Peoria or Phoenix fire station, the burglars can keep the rest of the stolen items.

The family discovered the burglary when they returned to their home, near Thunderbird Road and 75th Avenue, Thursday afternoon. They found the garage door wide open and the house ransacked.

Police believe the burglars got inside the Grannis' home by using a universal garage door remote.

If you have any information about the ashes or the burglary, call Lindsay Grannis at 602-370-5279.

out there knows something. I have twin grandchildren that were cremated as well and I could not even imagine what it would be like if someone took them away....... I hope they get their baby back.
