TUCSON, Ariz. - Authorities say a Tucson man awaiting sentencing in a fatal DUI-related crash has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and drug possession charges.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department took 19-year-old Miguel Rodriguez into custody early Wednesday.

Authorities say Rodriguez had cocaine with him and a breath test came back positive for the presence of alcohol.

A county Superior Court judge ordered Rodriguez held without bond on the new case and imposed a $200,000 bond in his old case.

Rodriguez was convicted Oct. 30 of driving with an illegal drug in his system and leaving the scene after causing a fatal crash in July 2008, but was allowed to remain free pending his Dec. 11 sentencing hearing.

61% of all fatal auto fatalities are caused by drivers not impaired. Did this guy do wrong? Sure. Is the fact he was released pending another on another dui ticket note worthy? No. Do you know the cost to the taxpayer for keeping this guy in jail until he goes to court? If you want tough love then you had better be willing to pay the cost of tough love. In other words higher taxes.

Let me get this straight? He killed someone and he is out on bail? WHAT!!! The Judge should be sued. What is wrong with our criminal justice system? He could have killed your husband, wife, daughter, son, best friend and he is out on Bail?????? Makes me sick. Purely vile. What is his immigration status by the way???

is wrong with these judges who keep letting people walk free among us ... it is time that these liberal, retarded judges be accountable as well ... the judge who let him stay free awaiting sentencing should also be charged in the new case! So tired of this garbage!

he caused a fatal accident the first time he should not have been out period. The system failed yet again. See the second arrest as admitting guilty to the first and throw him away for life due to the life that was taken. NEXT!
