PHOENIX - A woman was sentenced Monday to 15 years in prison for an assault on a Phoenix police officer last summer.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 26-year-old Elizabeth Ann Rich was a passenger in a car that was pulled over by police on June 6.
Police say the male driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant and Rich was wanted in Maricopa County for credit card fraud and theft.
But when the officer tried to arrest Rich and reached in to the passenger side window to control her, she partially closed the window and stepped on the accelerator with her foot.
The police officer had his arm caught inside the car and was dragged for about a half-mile before he freed himself.
The car crashed and Rich was arrested.
She pleaded guilty on Sept. 30 to aggravated assault and unlawful flight from a law enforcement vehicle.
