MESA, Ariz. - Two hundred people turned out to hear Senator John McCain at a town hall meeting at Central Christian Church in Mesa Friday.
McCain criticized the government's plan to create a government-run insurance option to compete with private companies and expensive pet projects by individual lawmakers. He said healthcare should be about you.
"It should be about you and your doctor. It should be about you and your family. It should not be a government beaurocracy established in order to stand between you and your doctor," he said.
McCain complained that republicans have been left out of he healthcare reform discussions, and that the plan the democrats want to create would leave the burden of paying for it on your children.
"We should call it 'No child left with a dime' because we are committing generational theft on our children," he said.
McCain will hold another town hall meeting Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Skyway Church, 14900 West Van Buren Street, in Goodyear.
