Wildfire burns on San Francisco Peaks

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Firefighters say a 100-acre wildfire about 10 miles north of Flagstaff burned one outbuilding and was about 20 percent contained by Monday afternoon.

Authorities say the Potato Fire was reported about 3 a.m. Monday and originated on private lands.

The fire's cause is not immediately known but the Arizona Daily Sun reported that it may have been ignited by a campfire left unattended.

About 40 Coconino National Forest firefighters are battling the wildfire along with eight fire engines, two water tenders and one bulldozer.

The wildfire is burning northwest of the San Francisco Peaks near Forest Road 418 and the White Horse Hills.

Authorities say cabins and properties in the area are owned primarily by people who vacation on the land.

The fire is a few miles east and south of the White Horse Hills subdivision of 47 homes.

There have been no evacuations.
