Sprinkler system saves Chandler store

A sprinkler system may be responsible for saving the "Forever 21" store in the Chandler Fashion Mall.

The store was damaged by smoke and water Monday morning, but it could have been much worse.

"At this time, the fire investigation is ongoing," said Battalion Chief Dick McBlaine. "We do not know the case of fire at this time, but fire was controlled to the point of origin."

He said, however, that "a lot of clothes" had water and smoke damage.

No other stores in the mall were damaged, and there were no injuries.
