TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona Board of Regents voted Thursday to approve tuition surcharges for the state's three public universities that would add hundreds of dollars a year to student costs.

The university presidents sought the new fees as a way to make up for a 20 percent cut in their state funding. All their requests were lower than first sought.

Regents spokeswoman Andrea Smiley says the board approved Arizona State University's surcharge request of $510 for in-state students and $710 for out-of-state students.

They approved the University of Arizona's reduced request of $766 for residents and $966 for nonresidents.

And they approved Northern Arizona University's request of $422 for state residents and $522 for nonresidents.

That's right, illegals didn't have to pay their fair share as non-residents. So of course the college didn't get as much income as they should have all those years, for all those illegals, taking all those discounts on your back.

Are you really sure that you want your kid to spend a lot of YOUR money to end up as an over-educated burger-flipper? Why not offer them an alternative...maybe a REAL education where they can learn a REAL skill. Maybe one that they can actually earn money from the rest of their lives? Gee...what a concept. 2 years at a Community College (if done right) or a VoTech school might produce a kid with the ability to stand alone and not end up moving back in with Mom and Dad. Of course, the Board of Regents considers this ignorant blasphemy.

Just in time to pay for more litigation tied to Crow's unyielding bigotry. There's yet another case in federal court this week linked to guess who, Michael Crow. The cases keep piling up because Crow is a bigot. He refuses to settle even when employees win EEOC cases. The regents looks the other way as does the press and the legislature. At least the courts and the EEOC do not. Meanwhile, AZ taxpayers get stuck paying for Crow's bad boy behavior.

stated in the Arizona Constitution. I suppose some just interpret that differently.

is ridiculous. It is going to send students further into debt, because most of them aren't paying for it up front anyway. And those that are, like my boyfriend who has a scholarship, has to pay this extra fee out of pocket, since his scholarship (which was supposedly a full ride, Provost Scholarship, covers everything) won't be enough to pay for it.
