TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State is in need of wins over UCLA and Arizona to finish 6-and-6 and qualify for a bowl.
Even if the Sun Devils do qualify for a bowl they are not guaranteed a trip to a bowl game with six Pac-10 teams already qualified for bowls and only six contracted bowl slots for the conference.
The Sun Devils can't worry about that right now and have to take care of their own business before that is a real discussion.
Coach Dennis Erickson feels his team has a lot to play for and despite four consecutive losses expects them to practice well leading up to the game against UCLA.
"We have a chance to get to 6 and 6, get to bowl eligible," Erickson said Monday at his weekly press conference. "That's what we're shooting for right now."
Erickson is in his third season with the Sun Devils and missed out on a bowl game last year as they fell to Arizona in the final game of the season.
Injury update on Arizona State
The Sun Devils lost three more players for the season over the weekend; linebacker Gerald Munns, tight end Dan Knapp, and offensive lineman Matt Hustad.
That brings the season total to 11.
Also, running back Cameron Marshall was limited in Oregon due to "leg issues" according to coach Erickson. He had tightened up and was unable to get loose.
