The World Boxing Council wants to banish once and for all fathers from working their sons' corners during fights after a study showed it could prove fatal.
Also, the Catholic Church will now banish their Fathers from working little league games
ESPN this week suspended Bob Griese from broadcasting a college football game on Saturday for the remark he made last week about Juan Pablo Montoya. During a spot for NASCAR, the top five drivers in the standings were shown and Griese was asked where Montoya was in the promotion. Griese replied Montoya was "out having a taco."
Montoya says he was not bothered by the "taco" remark, although was bothered when Griese asked him to mow his front lawn
Disgraced former NBA referee Tim Donaghy was a free man Wednesday after serving most of a 15-month sentence in a gambling scandal.
Unfortunately, Donaghy will now have to answer to his "business associates", many of whom bet the over on 15 months
Florida State coach Bobby Bowden said Wednesday that he will "make the final decision" on the Seminoles' next defensive coordinator
Unfortunately for FSU, they are already feeling uneasy about Bowden's first replacement suggestion : lawyer Ben Matlock
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Vicente Padilla has accidentally shot himself in the leg in Nicaragua.
Then, out of habit, Plaxico Burress was sentenced to 2 more years in prison
Coach Tom Cable said Wednesday that he has spoken with Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis about allegations that Cable has a history of violent behavior
When asked how the meeting went, Cable said he was quiet and mostly "let his fists do the talking"
Lou Filippo, a California referee and judge for more than 30 years and member of the World Boxing Hall of Fame, died Monday in Los Angeles. Filippo's presence in the ring led to numerous television and film appearances, including parts as a referee in the second, third, fourth and fifth installments of the "Rocky" films.
When reached for comment on Filippo's death, Rocky star Sylvester Stalone said he was "upset and saddened", while Rocky co-star Dolph Lundgren said "if he dies, he dies"
The Chicago Cubs are considering moving to a new spring training facility location in Florida or Arizona, ESPNChicago.com's Bruce Levine reported.
However, the Cubs say they will not move their usual October playing location - Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Chicago
Former University of Kentucky basketball coach Billy Gillispie pleaded guilty Monday to driving under the influence of alcohol and apologized for what he called a mistake.
However, Gillispie refused to apologize for his time at Kentucky where he coached and recruited while under the influence of alcohol
"Colbert Report" host Stephen Colbert said that his viewers, the "Colbert Nation," will now be the primary sponsor for the U.S. Olympic speed skating team when the squad goes to the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada
Also, the speed skating track will be sponsored by MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, since while on the track, the skaters only go left
