TUCSON, Ariz. - A day after announcing that Tucson's Fourth of July fireworks were being canceled for budget reasons, the show is back on.

The City Council announced late Thursday that it collected enough money from private donors to hold the fireworks this year.

Councilwoman Karin Uhlich said the companies that donated include Tucson Electric Power, the Arizona Builders Alliance, Cox Communications, the Tohono O'odham Nation, the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and some anonymous donors.

Uhlich said so much money was collected from private donors the city may be able to start a fund to go toward paying for next year's fireworks.

Tucson officials had announced Wednesday that this year's city-sponsored Fourth of July fireworks show and related celebrations had been canceled because of ``current fiscal restraints.''

The city said the Fourth of July events cost $51,000, not counting public safety, transportation, parks and recreation, and Tucson Convention Center costs needed to put on the celebrations.
