The state's new license plate frame law led to some confusion at a Phoenix school Tuesday.
Workers at a University of Phoenix campus were alarmed when officers from the Arizona Department of Transportation's Motor Vehicle Division issued several warnings in their parking lot.
Word spread across campus that cars with illegal license plate frames were being targeted, and that tickets would be issued beginning Wednesday.
"All motor vehicle enforcement is doing at this time is concerning themselves with the expired registrations and out of state plates that are not in compliance with registration," said Cydney Demodica with ADOT.
"We are not issuing any citations or warnings whatsoever for the license plate frames."
Those who received warnings should either register their car in Arizona or notify officials that they are just visiting the state.
