PHOENIX - A day after the Arizona Diamondbacks finished their season A.J. Hinch announced third base coach Chip Hale and first base coach Lorenzo Bundy would not return next season.
"I wanted to have an opportunity to make a change and move forward with some different voices and different roles," Hinch said on Monday afternoon.
Hale was the Diamondbacks third base coach the past three seasons after managing the Diamondbacks Triple-A team in Tucson from 2004-06. He was also a Double-A and Rookie ball manager in the organization.
Bundy previously was with the organization as hitting coach from 2003-06 before managing the Las Vegas 51s - the Los Angeles Dodgers Triple-A affiliate. This season was Bundy's first season as the D-backs first base coach.
The Diamondbacks also announced a two-year extension for bench coack Kirk Gibson.
Both coaches that joined the team mid-season with Hinch - batting coach Jack Howell and pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre - will remain with the team as will bullpen coach Glenn Sherlock.
Hinch said the coaching positions have not been filled and an announcement be made once they are.
The Diamondbacks finished the season 70-92, last in the National League West.
