PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks have re-called Daniel Schlereth and placed Scott Schoeneweis on the 15-day disabled list.
Schoeneweis, in his first season with the Diamondbacks, goes on the DL with depression the team announced Tuesday.
The relief pitcher had struggled since returning to the team, seeing his ERA go from under four to 8.24 in the past month.
Schoeneweis' wife was found dead in their Fountain Hills home on May 20. The cause of her death is unknown.
The left-handed relief pitcher is in his 11th Major League season. He has a career 4.98 ERA in 555 games pitched.
The left-handed Schlereth returned from the disabled list on August 2 for the Mobile BayBears, the Diamondbacks Double-A affiliate.
Schlereth had not pitched since June 22 and was on the DL with a broken rib.
This will be the second time this season Schlereth has been called up. In his first stint with the Diamondbacks he pitched in six games, going 0-2 with a 9.64 ERA.
Schlereth was with the club in late May and was sent back to Double-A in mid-June.
At Mobile his ERA was 1.01 in 26.2 innings pitched, striking out 39 hitters.
Schlereth was the Diamondbacks first-round draft pick in the 2008 MLB Draft.
