Air travel just got a little easier…for animals

Do you miss your furry friends when you go on vacation? You could take them along, but the hassle at the airport is hard enough as it is. However, one company is hoping to change that.
Ark Development signed a 30-year deal with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to build a 178,000-square-foot animal cargo facility at John F. Kennedy Airport, according to The Telegraph.
The $48 million project is called “The Ark” and is scheduled to open in early 2016. It will be the world’s first privately-owned animal terminal.
According to TheTelegraph, the Ark will include a departure lounge, climate-controlled rooms for horses and cattle, special accommodations for cats and dogs, and a veterinarian.
“For the animals who [will] pass through The Ark, as well as the people who own them, air travel can be stressful and confusing,” said Cliff Bollmann, an architect at Gensler, one of the firms designing the facility. “Aligning the needs of quarantine with kennelling and elevating the experience for animals and their owners, our design team sought to create a comfortable, healthy environment for them all.”
Now if only the human flying experience was that enjoyable.
