California has two bills pending that deserve comment. The first would welcome illegal immigrants to California and would limit contact between California officers and federal officers. A California officer could not detain any one in the country illegally unless they had been arrested previously for a serious crime.
The other bill is being circulated for signatures would invalidate SB 48, the California law that mandates teaching the accomplishments of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans in state public schools.

Amnesty International has accused Arizona's prisons of abuse. According to the report, Arizona prisons use solitary confinement much more than other state prisons.
