Now that technology allows virtually every act and word of every human being on earth to be recorded, shared and analyzed, may I assume you have already become aware of two of the most blatant examples of overreaction.
Overreaction in our society?
When was the last time you heard about anything being understated?
First, in no particular order of irritation, is the outcry over the Boston bomber cover of ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine. Have you heard of that category of print journalism? It’s a magazine. You’re offended by a glamor shot of a killer with a name that looks like an eye chart? Don’t buy the magazine.
If you got it in the mail and you fear it’s a signal to begin an upcoming jihad…cancel your subscription! Otherwise, ‘Rolling Stone’ achieved its goal…selling magazines!
Now, to the second overreaction. Senator Lindsey Graham suggested a U.S. Boycott of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, because they offered asylum to NSA leaker Edward Snowden.
At least this foolishness got Speaker John Boehner to tell Graham he was “dead wrong” without shedding one tear.
I’m Pat McMahon.
