PHOENIX - Authorities say a Phoenix police officer has been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence.

Phoenix police officials say they were informed by the Casa Grande Police Department about the arrest last weekend of Armando Ramirez.

The arrest stemmed from a reported incident at Ramirez's Casa Grande home early Saturday.

The Arizona Republic says Ramirez allegedly assaulted his wife and discharged a firearm.

Phoenix police say the 37-year-old Ramirez is a five-year member of the department assigned to the South Mountain Precinct.

The Republic says he had just returned from a seven-month Marine Reservist stint in Afghanistan.

Ramirez has been placed on paid administrative leave until an investigation is completed by both Casa Grande police and the Pinal County Attorney's Office.

It was unclear Tuesday whether Ramirez has legal representation yet.

    Seriously
think this guy is going to get the same treatment as any other wife beater? Not a chance, he is a cop and they are allowed to commit crimes without the same consequences as civilians. And what does him getting back from overseas have to do with anything except try to make him look better? He's just a scum bag who is probably home now on paid leave beating his wife AGAIN!!
