PHOENIX - 28-year-old Eric Aucker was found murdered in the early morning hours of December 5th, 2009 near Power Road and Loop 202.Phoenix Police Sergeant Darren Burch described the case. "He's behind the wheel of his vehicle, which is a 2005 GMC truck, half-ton pickup, and he's dead with a gunshot wound," Burch said. "And the police have absolutely no motive, no witnesses - nothing to give them a head start on what happened." "They're speculating maybe it was a road rage and hoping that maybe somebody on the roadway at that time and date might remember something," Burch said. Susan Kowalczyk, Aucker's mother, said that he was an outgoing and goal-oriented person. "A lot of people would call him "Aucker the Talker" because he could sell you anything," Kowalczyk said. "He always was looking for a way to be a millionaire, I tell you," Kowalczyk said. "His goal was to be a millionaire and take care of everybody and retire by the time he was thirty." "He went to real estate school and took a couple classes over at the community college, but basically did real estate," Kowalczyk said. "He was more of an entrepreneur. He always had some great thing he was working on." Kowalczyk says Eric was born and raised in Arizona. After he graduated from Highland High School, Aucker went on a mission for the Mormon Church. Aucker liked hunting and fishing and had a lot of friends that he enjoyed talking to. "One person described Eric pretty good as when Eric walked in a room you knew he was there," Kowalczyk said. After Aucker was killed, Kowalczyk found a list of his goals in life as she was sorting through his things. "The first thing on the top of his list was always God-centered: prayer, Scripture, workout, take care of myself, and be there for others," Kowalczyk said. Kowalczyk said that she hopes the murderer is caught "so that we can protect somebody else out there so they don't have to go through this horrible, horrible grief that we're going through."
