These women like to make their crime sprees family affairs.

On Tuesday, June 5, 2012, just before 2:00 p.m., they walked into the 99 Cent Store at 35th Ave. and Peoria.

“Two women, one in her 20s the other in her 40s, and the three children between the ages of three and ten, go into the store and the women start putting stuff into their purses,” said Phoenix Police Sgt. Darren Burch. “Basic shoplifting.”

As they tried to leave the store, they were stopped by a couple of employees.

“They ended-up fighting with the employees, basically turning a shoplifting into a robbery,” said Burch. “At one point, one of the women called the other one ‘mom,’ leading us to believe they were mother, grandmother and grandchildren.”

The women punched one worker in the head and face, rammed a shopping cart into the other worker and were also throwing items at the clerks.

They were doing this while holding children in their arms. The family got away in a van with a covered-up license plate.
