A Phoenix mom and pop restaurant is struggling. Thanks to an armed robber, it's not only lost thousands in cash, but it's also lost employees.
Phoenix Police Sergeant Darren Burch says the gunman went into Romero's Restaurant at 27th Avenue and Van Buren on Tuesday evening, March 27th, 2012.
"He has a hoodie and he has a bandana covering his face. He's screaming at the employees to give him money - that this is a robbery. He has a large gun or maybe even a sawed-off shotgun that he's pointing at the employees. Unfortunately the workers didn't understand what he was saying because he was screaming so loudly and crazily".
Finally the crazed robber tried to open the cash register himself. He'd put his prints all over it then use his sleeve to wipe them off. He eventually got the cash drawer to open and took the money and ran. But just a few days later he came back.
Sgt. Burch says, "This time he had no gun. He knew what he was doing. He just walked straight to the register, opened it and took the cash".

Our next case involves criminal damage and theft along a Northwest valley freeway. Crews have been trying to install walls with colorful, decorative glass blocks along the Loop-303 near Greenway but a group of vandals keeps breaking out the glass.
"More than 100 glass blocks, at this point, have been damaged," says Sgt. Burch.
The suspects have also cut wires, stolen batteries from construction equipment causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage.
