Police: Loose dog at motel leads to drug arrest

SALEM, N.H. (AP) — Police say a loose dog at a New Hampshire motel led them to a room with a bathtub containing marijuana and the arrest of the dog’s owner.
Police said two housekeepers at a Red Roof Inn in Salem spotted a German shepherd on the second floor Tuesday. They knew the dog belonged to a man staying on that floor. One housekeeper went to tell him, but found the door open and smelled marijuana. She looked at the bathtub and saw what she suspected was marijuana. Police said there also was over $100,000 in cash.
Police later arrested 62-year-old Charles Barcus of Conway. He’s being held on $50,000 cash bail and has a hearing scheduled July 1. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
