(AP) - RUSHING RUSSIA: The House of Representatives voted Friday to end Soviet-era trade restrictions on Russia, which joined the World Trade Organization earlier this year. The Senate will now consider the bill, which is supported by the Obama administration.
MOSCOW MOVES: The bill would permanently normalize U.S. trade relations with Russia and Moldova. As a WTO member, Russia is required to reduce tariffs and take other measures to open its markets.
SHAPE UP: The House also approved a measure that punishes Russian officials for human rights violations, although the House and Senate differ on the specifics of those provisions.
