(AP) - FARES CLIMB: Southwest Airlines Co. on Friday added $10 to the price of a round trip that's under 500 miles each way.
AIRLINES LIKE IT: United, Delta and American quickly matched the increase.
HIGHER COSTS: Airlines have been dealing with higher fuel costs, and Southwest has also seen its labor and maintenance costs increase. A spokeswoman said Southwest needed higher prices to cover those costs.
