(AP) - SALES FREEZE: U.S. auto sales slipped 3 percent to just over 1 million in January as cold weather kept potential buyers at home. It was the first year-over-year sales drop since August 2010.
WINNERS AND LOSERS: Chrysler, Nissan, Subaru, Honda and Hyundai all saw higher sales thanks to strong new products. Ford, General Motors, Toyota and Volkswagen saw declines.
WARMING TREND: Analysts say January was an anomaly and U.S. sales are still on track to rise to more than 16 million this year. Low interest rates, wide loan availability and the need to replace aging vehicles continue to drive sales.
