Aerial footage shows massive extent of Texas flooding

May 27, 2015, 10:27 AM | Updated: 10:27 am

Massive storms that took place throughout Texas during the Memorial Day weekend have led to the deaths of 8 people and displaced thousands more.

Photos and videos, including this one by the production company DLR Productions, depict the horrific and shocking aftermath throughout the state. The footage was shot over Austin, Texas, after torrential rains swept the area, according to the YouTube video’s description.

Richard Reed with the American Red Cross said the flooding is just one aspect to the weeks-long, severe weather in Texas.

“This deadly flooding comes on the heels of three consecutive weeks of severe weather in Texas,” he said in a press release. “Some people have been hit repeatedly and we are assisting them for the second time.”

Twenty people have died in Texas, Oklahoma and Mexico from the storms and dozens more are missing.
