WASHINGTON (AP) - Sen. John McCain says President Barack Obama should invite lawmakers to Camp David or the White House to hammer out a last-minute deal to avert deep budget cuts set to start taking effect at week's end.

The Arizona Republican says Obama should be talking with lawmakers instead of demonizing them over the looming across-the-board cuts in domestic and defense spending.

McCain calls the Pentagon cuts "unconscionable" and says military leaders are already warning they would be devastating.

McCain, the 2008 GOP president nominee, says it's time for Obama to show leadership and call lawmakers either to Camp David or to the White House for a budget summit.

McCain appeared on CNN's "State of the Union."

    Obama IS showing leadership. It just is leadership in the opposite direction of the stated purpose of our nation. His failure to show any interest in even discussing national defense, financial viability, and other last-ditch national sustenance issues should make his true intentions obvious.

    It is time to start working on impeachment.The man has done nothing but try and act like he is Robinhood. Steal from this nation as a whole. While thinking really of only himself and family once he is out of this office in 3 years,11 months, 4 days and 12 hours. He just dictates by executive order and this is not how this government should be functioning.

    Obama re-instated for himself and family secrete service for the rest of their lives. George Bush cut that waste for himself out after 10 years of coverage and anyone that followed him in the office of presidency. This was in an effort to save the tax payers money. It cost no less then a million dollar per person for them to be watched over. Obama just wrote himself and family a free check for the rest of their lives and know one said that is enough.

    Obama has not produce jobs and has only produced more debit. China owns us now. These voters that aided in his re-election will soon have a real wake up call that it was all just smoke & mirrors when hyper-inflation takes hold due to their Robinhood. Notice the word "Rob" - "in" - "hood". His efforts have only been to weaken America in every move he makes. Nothing is free people.
