WASHINGTON (AP) - Sen. John McCain is calling for establishment of a Watergate-style congressional committee to investigate the deaths of four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

The Arizona Republican tells "CBS This Morning" he believes the unanswered questions surrounding events at Benghazi on Sept. 11 require such a select committee.

"The American people deserve the truth," he said.

McCain accused the Obama administration of making misleading statements. He also said U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice went on national television and said incorrectly that the violence was the result of a demonstration against an anti-Muslim movie made in the United States. Asked if he'd stand in the way of any nomination of Rice as the next secretary of state, McCain replied, "She's not qualified."

He said Rice spoke "in defiance" of the facts in the case.

"If you're going to tell the American people something you had better make damn sure it's true," he said.

Yes - The next Watergate Is Here
This administration sucked the moment Obama returned the bust of Winston Churchill back to the English. He spit at the world. He is out to destroy America with your eyes closed. All you people with your hands out need to realize your helping to clasps our economy and you have helped him. That is what he wants is chaos in our streets then having it be stated that it is racism. The young people have no idea what they are in store for because history is not even taught any longer in our schools to any great extent. People get the government they deserve.

as long as they are the willing dogs with their tail wagging they will keep trying to pander to the teabagger party, they will keep losing their hold in politics.

Just to show you how out of touch the Right
is with reality, one need only look at the nonsense Solitaire passes off as truth in his comment. The Churchill bust remains at the White House. That Solitaire and like minded "thinkers" choose to believe something other than the truth shows the depth of their mistaken belief system.

this is just sad. You lose an election and now they want to start a "Gate". Even if Romney were pres, i'm getting really tired of either side trying to go all "nixon" on each president. The election is over, it's final, stop trying to be overly dramatic about the importance of the Libya issue, while important it's not as epic as some people are painting it to be.

Well at least he wanted the same kind of investigation into Iraq's WMD situation. Oh wait. I heard he had something nice to say about Carmona yesterday.

    People died and Obama lied...
This isn't the Soviet Union or Catro's Cuba. We expect the TRUTH from our elected representatives. This administration is either completely incompetant, or they flat out lied about the facts. In my opinion, it is BOTH.
