HONOLULU (AP) - President Barack Obama has signed a bill that boosts taxes on the wealthiest Americans, while preserving tax cuts for most American households.

The bill, which averts a looming fiscal cliff that had threatened to plunge the nation back into recession, also extends expiring jobless benefits, prevents cuts in Medicare reimbursements to doctors and delays for two months billions of dollars in across-the-board spending cuts in defense and domestic programs.

The GOP-run House approved the measure by a 257-167 vote late Tuesday, nearly 24 hours after the Democratic-led Senate passed it 89-8.

Obama, who is vacationing in Hawaii, signed the bill using an autopen, a mechanical device that copies his signature.

    Dear President Obama
Please learn to be a team player and a leader as presidents all should be instead of trying to be a dictator when it comes to this country's future and finances.

    Don't be naive people,
there were no spending cuts agreed to. Obama wins and we lose. Watch the deficit double and all of us will pay more. The bush era tax breaks (not cuts) were meant to have a sunset and this is the time it was to be. The problems we have economically are from spending not taxing coupled with bad policy and obamas grand design of out-sourcing production.

    Right for whom?
This is just a fun game for Obama who, empowered by re-election, is unleashed. Our president addresses the nation on the issue as if conducting late-night standup. He hasnt a worry. After all, as he has demonstrated, if he cant get it done one way, he will get it done another. And who can stop him? He remains untouched by disparaging questions such as with Fast and Furious, Benghazi attack, etc. He simply does not respond, and no one truly challenges him. Few have gotten the clue that this nation is overrun.
