At last night's Academy Awards, there was a fitting six minute tribute to 50 years of James Bond movies. The tribute was highlighted by 76-year-old Shirley Bassey singing the top 10 hit and theme to 1964's "Goldfinger."

Adele also sang and won an Oscar for the latest Bond film, "Skyfall," which is also a top 10 hit.

There were five other Bond theme's that made the top 10 on the Billboard charts; 1973's "Live and Let Die" from Paul McCartney, 1977's "Nobody Does It Better" from Carly Simon, 1981's "For Your Eyes Only" by Sheena Easton and 2002's "Die Another Day" by Madonna.

In 50 years, only one Bond theme song hit No. 1 on the charts. The story goes that Duran Duran's John Taylor, a lifelong Bond fan, approached a longtime Bond producer at a party and drunkenly asked "When are you going to get someone decent to do one of your theme songs?" That led to the composing and recording of the only No. 1 Bond theme song in 1985. Duran Duran's "A View to a Kill."
