Formed in 1973 in San Francisco, they have sold 47 million albums in the US, 80 million worldwide. In 2005, a USA Today poll named them the fifth best American rock band in history. They've released 59 singles, many making the top ten.

Only one song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts, and 30 years ago today, "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" started its 4 week ride at the top. The accompanying video is often considered one of the worst music videos of all time.
