Lost 80s at 4: Peter Gabriel grabs nine MTV Awards
After Peter Gabriel left as lead singer of Genesis in the 70s he started a very successful solo run peaking in the mid 80s with the album So.
Gabriel was an MTV favorite with his stop-action and clay-mation videos. His "Sledgehammer" scored a record nine MTV Awards and to this date remains the most played video in the history of the station (considering how little music is played on MTV anymore, it'll probably stay that way).
His last top 10 song, "Big Time" was released in 1986.
Peter Gabriel turns 63 today.
