Pauline Friedman Phillips, who under the name of Abigail Van Buren, wrote the long-running "Dear Abby" advice column, has died.
She was 94. She had a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Phillips' column competed for decades with the advice column of Ann Landers, written by her twin sister.

When the hit show that made her famous went off the air, Lisa Whelchel who played the preppy and snobby Blair Warner on The Facts of Life took a long break from working so she could focus on raising her family.
She was out of spotlight until last fall when she signed up to be a contestant on Survivor: Philippines.
Lisa was loved by fans all over again and placed second winning $100,000.
Now, 25 years later, the divorced mom of three is returning to acting.
She auditioned for the first time in 33 years for Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas and she landed the part, dang I wish Tooti was signed for it too, Lisa will play the role of Nancy Porter, a country school principal.

Tom Cruise has become Hollywood's latest swatting' victim after a prank call led to a police alert at his Beverly Hills home on Thursday.
Cops swarmed the movie star's estate after someone placed a 911 call reporting an armed intruder.
The police found nothing to back up the call and filed it as another hoax.
