Oklahoma campus resumes activity after report of gunman

PHOENIX -- A shooter was reported on the University of Oklahoma campus on Wednesday but within school officials said the reports were unfounded.

According to News9.com, police received reports of gunfire at 10:17 Arizona time at the campus in Norman, Okla. Campus officials later said there was no evidence of any shots having been fired.

OU sent this text out to students: "OU Emergency: Shooting on campus. Avoid (Gould Hall). Seek immediate shelter in place."

As of 11:05 a.m. Arizona time, the school said normal operations had resumed on the campus, save for Gould Hall.

Gould Hall is on the south end of campus, near the school's famed football stadium.

The school has about 27,000 students.
