Sports can provide unity to tragic situations like Monday’s Boston Marathon bombings.
Some of the most historical and prominent sports rivalries have come together to show their support to the Boston community. The Chicago Tribune featured a cover photo of every Boston-affiliated professional sports team including the Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and New England Patriots. The newspaper posted the image on Facebook.
The New York Yankees had a sign that read, “United We Stand,” outside their stadium with the logos of both the Yankees and Red Sox. The Yankees will also pay tribute to the Boston Marathon victims during Tuesday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to the team’s Twitter feed.
Our thoughts are with the Boston community. Tonight there will be a special moment of silence & Fenway favorite Sweet Caroline @ end of 3rd.
