LOS ANGELES (AP) - Dozens of fired Los Angeles police officers are taking up the chief's offer to re-examine their dismissals since a deadly rampage by Christopher Dorner, who claimed that he was wrongly expelled from the force.

The Los Angeles Times ( http://lat.ms/Y7E2uY) reports 40 former officers have requested case reviews in the two months since Dorner killed four people before apparently committing suicide in a mountain cabin.

Dorner claimed his 2009 firing was prompted by racism. Chief Charlie Beck vowed he would re-examine the cases of other officers who believed they were wrongly expelled.

However, the Times reports the officers have been told the city charter prevents the LAPD from reinstating officers who were fired more than three years ago.

    Still a chance for Peace
The President could step in and call Chris Dorner to surrender. Like most of us, he respects Obama. The President could promise that the Justice Dept will look into his case with the LAPD. The LAPD will try to kill Dorner if given a chance, but if the Feds take him into custody, all this can be averted.

    "Jumpy officers
guarding one of his targets in Torrance on Thursday shot and injured two women delivering newspapers because they mistook their pickup truck for Dorner's." The public doesn't need to worry about drone strikes, LAPD maybe, but not drones.

It'll never get to the point of
due process. This guy will either eat a bullet from his own hand, or die trying to fight his way out of it. I'd be very surprised if he ever sees the inside of a court room.

    So Micho, what happened,
this guy went through numerous back ground checks, and yet he still went on a shooting spree. What up with that? Thought all the back ground checks, psychological tests, etc that this guy went through were supposed to be the magic pill to prevent this? At least that's the drift I get from listening to the Left wing nuts out there. Guess this one slipped through, huh.

    The hopelessly naive would assume
that any system of background checks would identify and deter 100% of evil doers. The realistic know that if it can deter an acceptable number of those seeking to do harm, then it is worth it for society to undertake it. Should we stop doing background checks on wannabe teachers because some molesters have figured out how to beat the system? Should police departments not concern themselves with the backgrounds of those that they hire because the checks might miss some important concern, or because the hired cop later goes rogue? Don't be ridiculous.

Oh, I'm all for back ground checks,
but the Left wing nuts force feed the need for them as though they are a magic cure all. Make all the laws you want, ban all the weapons you want. None of this will do anything to prevent the actions of the always unpredictable human nature. However, it will help lull the Left wing nuts and the other sheep into a false sense of security so they can sleep soundly at night.
