KINGMAN, Ariz. — The Arizona Corrections Department says six officers at
the state prison complex in Kingman received minor injuries while quelling a
disturbance.
Department spokesman Andrew Wilder said the officers were injured Wednesday
evening while breaking up an altercation between a group of inmates and another inmate.
The group was chasing a man at the privately operated complex’s Cerbat minimum-security unit.
Wilder said the inmates were locked down in their housing. Five injured
officers were treated at the prison, the sixth was released from a hospital
after treatment and that there were no reports on inmate injuries.
Wilder said circumstances of the fight weren’t immediately known and that
the department’s security staff was investigating.
The unit has approximately 1,900 inmates. Wilder didn’t know how many
were involved in the altercation.
