Arizona’s Blanquito competes for title of world’s ugliest dog

PHOENIX — One of the world’s ugliest dog could belong to Arizona.

Blanquito, who lives in Phoenix, is one of 27 dogs mugging it up for the title in a contest held at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California.

The contest celebrates “the spirit and imperfections that make these dogs loveable and adoptable,” according to a note on the fair website.

Heading into Friday’s final hours of online voting, Quasi Modo, a hunchback 10-year-old pit bull-Dutch shepherd mix, was running away with the competition with about 10,000.

None of the other dogs even came close to Quasi’s numbers, including Blanquito, who had about 1,300.

The bio for the 8-year-old mutt noted that a rubber ball was the pooch’s favored toy.

The winner will get $1,500.

Previous winners have enjoyed a certain amount of national fame with appearances on Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show, “Good Morning, America” and “Today” show.

We want to hear from you.
